Concrete Questions, Answered
These answers help you plan. The details for your project depend on the site and how the concrete will be used.
How thick should my concrete be?
The right thickness depends on what the concrete will carry, the ground beneath it, and the plans. Tell us about the vehicles or equipment that will use the surface.
Does rebar stop concrete from cracking?
Reinforcement can help control crack width. It does not prevent every crack or replace suitable support, joints, finishing, and curing.
Why are lines cut into concrete?
Contraction joints help guide shrinkage cracks to planned locations. Their layout and timing should be part of the project plan.
When can I drive on new concrete?
Follow the opening-to-traffic instructions for your specific project. Mixture and curing conditions affect strength development; a dry-looking surface is not a reliable test.
Can concrete be placed in Texas heat?
Hot-weather work requires planning for temperature, wind, humidity, sunlight, and rapid moisture loss. The conditions may affect placement and curing methods or the schedule.
What should I send for a truck scale estimate?
Send the scale manufacturer and model, any drawings you have, the job location, site photos if available, and your target schedule.
